Sound Pollution Eclectic

Free To Choose

“Free to Choose” is the debut album of Karel Eriksson as a leader and involves some of the most in-demand musicians from the Graz jazz scene.

As the album title reveals one always has choices to make and these choices define who we are.

On “Free To Choose” this is displayed through improvisations of various types.

With everything from free pieces to through-composed and polyharmonic compositions this CD offers a few different takes on the art of improvisation

Sound Pollution Eclectic is a Graz-based group formed by Swedish trombonist Karel Eriksson. Karel is an alumni of University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where he studied jazz trombone and composition with educators like Ed Neumeister, Michael Abene and Ed Partyka.

Growing up in Estonia & Sweden Karel moved to Prague after high school for further musical studies which eventually led to a move to Graz for more in-depth trombone and composition studies.

Karel was awarded “Outstanding Soloist” at the European Jazz competition in Rome 2012 as well as “Best Soloist” at Litvinov Jazzfest 2009, in Czech Republic.
